About Sean

A music educator at heart, Sean has taught in a variety of schools in Colorado, having taught every grade level from Kindergarten through High School, and General Music to a State Champion Marching Band. He is currently the Music Teacher at Berthoud High School where he directs the concert band, marching band, jazz bands, orchestra, mixed choir, and award winning Show Choir. Prior to joining Berthoud High school, Sean assistant directed and was the head director of the Liberty High School Band Program in Colorado Springs from 2013-2019. During that time, the Liberty Wind Ensemble was a featured band at the Music For All National Concert Band Festival twice (2015, 2017), performed at the Colorado Music Educators Association (2016), and the Marching Band placed in the top three at the Colorado State Marching Finals Competition 5 times, winning it's first ever State Championship in 2016. During his tenure at Liberty, Sean directed the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, both concert bands, both jazz bands, the pep band, marching band, the trumpet choir, and also taught Music Appreciation and a year-long music theory course.

Sean is an avid trumpet performer in Northern Colorado and the Denver Metro area, having played with the Pikes Peak Brass Band (Flugelhorn and Solo Cornet), the Denver Broncos Stampede Brass, and has performed as a soloist at for the Colorado Rockies at four different home games, including on the 4th of July.

Sean has received commissions from the Pride of the Rockies Marching Band of the University of Northern Colorado, the 101st Army Band, the Denver Gay Men's Chorus, Western Nebraska Community College Jazz band, and multiple public education institutions throughout the Western United States.

In 2018, Sean retired from the Army National Guard as a proud member of the 101st Army Band of the Colorado National Guard. As a Staff Sergeant, Sean was the musical director of the 101st Army Winds, and the 101st Brass Quintet. While in the 101st, he served as Principal Trumpet in the 101st Concert Band and played in the Jazz Combo, he also played Horn in the Concert Band, Trombone and Bass Guitar in the 101st Army Band Rock Band, and Guitar in the 101st Army Band Country Band.

Sean holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Masters Degree in Music, Music Education from the University of Florida. He is a member of Phi Beta Mu, the Colorado Bandmasters Association, the Colorado Music Educators Association, and the National Association for Music Education.

Sean lives in Fort Collins with his gorgeous wife Natasha, where they enjoy hiking, camping, all things outdoors, and playing in the Foothills Pops Band together.
